Ciao!
If you like to read and write you will enjoy the whole experience of Ciao.
To be honest I was surprised in many ways at what I found on the site. First and foremost the fact that there were not only reviews which were paid for, but also consumer surveys, it also has its own surveys site, where you can make extra money by completing surveys. The Ciao surveys site can be found here http://www.ciao-surveys.co.uk/ which were surprisingly frequent and much more lucrative . So, I guess you got more than one reason get hooked on Ciao.
I first heard of Ciao a few month back, but honesty I never paid it much attention to it, I was under the impression that it was another “Amazon” style website. It was not until last October that in a conversation with someone whom i met in a blog you also uses ciao that he told about ciao exactly works. I considered this quite a good investment of time. I signedup to Ciao because someone referred me. But having signed up I looked around the site and noticed how people were earning money just by writing and reading reviews about their area of interest. i looked around to get idea of the whole thing read some reviews.
In order to make real money you need to get others to rate your reviews and the best way to do this is to rate other peoples reviews. If you are not prepared to read and rate the reviews of others then you are better off just forgetting the site altogether. I have seen some users despite the quality of their writing getting little or no ratings because they cannot be bothered to rate others. As members you should not only read reviews but also publish reviews of their own.
POINTS & COLOR DOT’s
Ciao have the coloured dot system which you can see next to your user name a little dot in different color. According to the site the coloured dots reflect the member activity on the site. i like this feature of dot system on Ciao you feel that you have some kind of recognition or reputation on Ciao. I feel that these motivate you to become more active & makes you feel more valued as an active member plus it lets you identify members that are more established in Ciao.
To give you a better idea of what I mean here is the chart of points you need to achieve to “change colour” I have taken this from the Ciao website:
Level 1: white: 1-1000 points
Level 2: green: 1 000-4 999 points
Level 3: blue: 5 000-9 999 points
Level 4: violet: 10 000-19 999 points
Level 5: red: 20 000-49 999 points
Level 6: orange: 50 000-99 999 points
Level 7: bronze: 100 000-250 000 points
Level 8: silver: 250 000-499 999 points
Level 9: gold: over 500 000 points
Once a month the authors of particularly high quality reviews – reviews which really make it easier for readers to make product decisions – extra rewards, Ciao wil reward a “Premium Fund” of up to $2,000 which is divided among the best authors on the site.
Meanwhile, Ciao we will be introducing more incentive features soon, to give you new ways to earn money on Ciao. These bonus programs, including the recently added Current Issue section, are part of our new incentive system, which is designed to reward high-quality reviews. In this section Ciao presents a topic to a current issue ever month. The best review on this issue, which is submitted during this month, receives a small prize of USD 5. The decision is based on ratings by other Ciao users, therefore the reviews on the product page are sorted according to usefulness.
Tips that will help you understand Ciao better
- Community status levels (coloured dots) Which i mentioned earlier. You start out with a white dot, You earn community points by getting your reviews rated by other members, by rating other members reviews and by posting photos to your reviews, as well as by commenting on other members reviews.
- You to save incomplete reviews as drafts, so you can finish them later.
- You can upload up to 7 photos to each review, to illustrate the product, site, item being reviewed (each photo also automatically awards members with 2 extra community points).
- Lower minimum payout balance (£5) & money transferred to your bank account through BACS/bank transfer, so no need to pay in cheques.
- Ciaos equivalent of crowns are diamonds, again an icon is put next to the titles of the reviews that are awarded this and if you earn a diamond, your balance/earnings are topped up. Ciao diamonds are decided by the Ciao staff/team, though members can indicate the best reviews which most deserve the award by rating a review as ‘Exceptional’.
- Video reviews can also be uploaded, as well as text based reviews. You could make a video using a digital camera, you could talk about the product, how to use it and how it works and upload it as a video review.
